Technology - R&D methods
Here we present some information on the service development methods used at Media Technology Labs.
Service development by engineer and planner tag teams
The minimum member configuration for MTL projects is two people: a member from the engineer/creator side and a member from the business planner side. Starting with a small number of people, we follow a high-speed PDS (Plan-Do-See) cycle of new service planning, development, and operation. The project grows with the necessary members being added based on project content, scale, and progress.
In each MTL project, the leader in charge of the engineers is known as the CTO. Like the CTO at a startup company, our project CTO has to have a broad perspective and a wide range of skills not limited to development coding work. From project definition through system architecture selection/design/setup to log analysis after operation startup, the CTO needs to be able to move all aspects of the project forward.
New technology is appearing in a steady stream and to be able to quickly put it to use when and where necessary, it is also important for people to proactively learn the latest technology and development methods by participating in workshops and reviewing technical publications.
